SaaS Model
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) effectively means the delivery of software over the internet, in a "pay as you go" format. It's an alternative and increasingly popular way that Kirona customers implement our Field Force Automation applications.
The traditional way that our customers have procured Kirona's software is by paying an upfront user licence fee and then annual support and maintenance. The software is then usually installed directly onto our customers' servers.
However, Kirona has invested significantly in the development of the "Kirona Private Cloud"; tier 3 hosting facilities that allows customers to access the applications and store data directly with Kirona via the internet. As no software needs installing, it allows our customers to use Field Force Automation with minimal, or no implementation costs. It also allows customers to adopt a "pay-as-you-go" method for software use.
The Kirona Private Cloud is often also more secure and stable than local customer installations. It is implemented on VMWare’s vSphere platform, using multiple hardware nodes and SAN-based storage to host a multi-tenanted application platform. vSphere also supports numerous high-availability and fault-tolerant features – including automatic failover of VM’s between hardware nodes and robust backup and recovery techniques using VM snapshots.
