GMPTE Mobile Field Service Solution
GMPTE are responsible for the public transport services of the Greater Manchester area. They have now procured Kirona’s Intelligent Mobile Asset Inspection Solution for their bus shelter field services. The Intelligent solution will be used to survey bus shelters and make sure they are maintained to a suitable level.
GMPTE’s surveys are broken down into two teams; inspection and maintenance. The Kirona solution will be used by the first field service team to inspect bus shelters. This team determine if the bus shelters have any defects and if any action is needed, e.g. repairs. The inspection field service team will enter the relevant information into the Kirona solution which then generates jobs for the second team who focus on maintenance. Once the second team arrive at the shelter they will carry out their maintenance jobs as allocated to them and then close the jobs in Kirona when completed.

Plymouth Vehicle Tracking & Mobile Data Capture
Plymouth City Council is to implement Kirona’s Vehicle Tracking and Mobile Data Capture solution for its waste management service. Initially Plymouth sought out a stand-alone vehicle tracking solution, before coming to the realisation that this must be combined with better communication of information to refuse vehicles on their rounds.
Refuse vehicles will now be equipped with mobile devices mounted in the vehicle cabin, as well as GPS trackers. The mobile devices will use Kirona’s Intelligent Mobile Solution to tell drivers which streets to pick up from and which bins to collect; including information about disability pick-up and other exceptions. In instances where collection is not possible e.g. no access to bins, wrong waste etc. the solution will allow this information to be recorded at the touch of a button.
By using Kirona’s Solution, refuse collectors will be provided with up to date information about their rounds and a more efficient method for recording problems with individual collections. What is more, the solution is completely configurable with office CRM systems. This is a key triumph for Plymouth. Previously, citizens who rang up to complain about missed collections could not be told the reason as it took time for the CRM to be updated by paper job sheets. Now, the CRM is to be updated automatically and citizens offered an improved level of service.
Missed bins will also no longer be the nuisance they once were to Plymouth. As Kirona’s solution is integrated with the vehicle’s GPS tracker, Collection Management will be provided with the location of refuse vehicles in real-time. This will enable Collection Management to allocate the nearest vehicle to pick it up, therefore limiting disruption to Plymouth’s waste management service.

Go Ahead
Go Ahead PLC are currently piloting Kirona’s intelligent mobile [Motile] application for Oracle’s e-Business suite. The Go-Ahead Group owns public transport companies that operate bus, rail, car-parking and aviation support services throughout the UK. Their goal is for their companies to be major contributors to more efficient, more integrated, local public transport systems throughout the UK that are equal to any in the world. In order to help them become more efficient they have adopted Kirona’s Motile Oracle e-Business application for speeding up requisitions approvals within the company.

Whitbread PLC
We are pleased to announce that Whitbread PLC has awarded Kirona the contract to provide its Estates Management team with an Intelligent Mobile Solution that will help Whitbread maintain the value of their extensive property portfolio. Kirona’s Mobile Inspect Estates Management Solution will be used by Whitbread’s Estates team to maintain the condition of their hotels, restaurants and coffee shops, including Premier Inn, Brewers Fayre, Beefeater and Costa.
Using Inspect, Whitbread’s Estates team will have extensive premise details including existing inspection details available in real time to a mobile device of their choice. As well as guiding the Estates team through inspections the solution also contains a complete works order management system which enables the Estates team to create a works order, invite approved suppliers to quote (electronically), review supplier’s proposals (submitted through the supplier portal), award, schedule and monitor the progress of the job.
Along with the use of Kirona’s Dashboard product that will provide the Estates team with scheduling, remote worker safety, location based information (using GPS), task management and time management Kirona are providing Whitbread with a complete solution, configured to their needs to ensure a streamlined approach to the management of their 1,400 strong property portfolio.
Motile BlueSky iTour
Kirona are collaborating with BlueSky Travel Systems on a project to provide Intelligent Mobile (Motile) access to their itour Travel Distribution Suite.
The software utilises BlackBerry and handheld PDA devices, allowing a customer or tour operator representative to review and update booking information in real time from any location. BlueSky recognizes the increasing importance of mobile technology to enable travel operators to provide new and innovative products and services to be delivered to the market.
