Kirona Awarded the South Yorkshire, Hampshire and Torbay Clusters for REP

Kirona are now live with phase II of the Retail Enforcement Pilot (REP).

The Better Regulation Executive (BRE) awarded Kirona accredited supplier status for the Retail Enforcement Pilot (REP) towards the end of 2007.

REP, a project started by the DTi, then transitioned to the Cabinet Office and now sitting within the Department for Business & Regulatory Reform has been through a detailed evaluation process which has led to Kirona achieving project implementation of Phase II.

Kirona has been working in partnership with the South Yorkshire, Hampshire and Torbay cluster members to deliver the REP solution using the Kirona Public Protection (KPP) platform and iClient; Kirona’s offline working solution. Certain business processes really lend themselves to off-line working and with Kirona's iClient solution having the same browser based user interface as Kirona Connected Suite, the transition between the two is seamless for the user. iClient allows data to be captured with zero connectivity and then automatically syncronises data over the air when available. It also handles automatic provisioning and iClient upgrades automatically over the air.

REP Phase II is now helping co-ordinate and streamline routine planned inspections of trading standards, environmental health, health and safety, food standards and fire across the different stake holders. In the Hampshire cluster for example, Hampshire County Council, Hants County Fire Service, East Hants District Council, Test Valley District Council, Havant District Council and Fareham District Council all share the responsibility of inspecting retail businesses. The shared responsibility not only reduces the burden on each individual authority but also enhances consumer and worker protection within the clusters.
