County Durham Housing Group is working with field service management specialist Kirona to facilitate smarter working for its responsive repair and void management operatives through dynamic resource scheduling systems.
The group was established in 2015 and is made up of three local landlords – Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes and East Durham Homes – with a combined housing stock of 18,500.
All three agencies had different housing management systems, which meant information was stored on disparate structures, which was not efficient for the business or effective for its workforce. In 2016, they set out on a project to align business processes and introduce a single housing management system. Following a procurement process the decision was made to migrate from three legacy housing management systems to Aareon QL; who in turn appointed Kirona as their partner of choice for dynamic resource scheduling.
County Durham Housing Group has a team of more than 100 operatives working across responsive repairs and voids management, serving around 8,000 properties across County Durham. With Kirona’s Dynamic Resource Scheduler (DRS), the housing group is now able to combine planned and appointed work and assign appropriate operatives to minimise downtime and increase productivity. The group went live with DRS in April 2018.
Graham Pine, GPS System Support Officer, at County Durham Housing Group said: “One requirement for our migration to a new single housing management system was a robust and dynamic scheduling solution that would enable us to mobilise our repairs operatives more effectively. Given Kirona’s track record in the housing sector, it seemed a natural fit.”
“Early feedback from the back office team has been positive, with jobs allocated more logically to take into account geographical location and available operatives.”
Neil Harvey, CTO for Kirona added: “County Durham Housing Group had a substantial challenge bringing together different information sources into one coherent management system, which they have successfully completed. We’re confident they will see real benefits from DRS in the coming weeks and we look forward to working with them going forward.”
As part of the next phase of the project, the group will be examining additional solutions from Kirona including InfoSuite and Project Planner to further enhance reporting and data analytics.
