Kirona’s mobile workforce management solutions enable North Lanarkshire Council achieve landmark number of visits and cost savings.

Twenty months after implementing Kirona’s Job Manager mobile workforce management software, North Lanarkshire Council has seen the number of visits by their Home Care service to over 8,000 different service users pass the 5 million landmark. These home visits provide assistance with a range of tasks such as bathing, getting dressed, having meals, taking prescribed medication etc.

North Lanarkshire Council is the fourth-largest authority in Scotland serving 338,000 residents as well as businesses and visitors. The Home Care team is made up of 1,300 staff who provide health and social care services for different people, including patients who have just been discharged from hospital, re-gaining independence and end of life care.

Robert Forman, Service Manager – Business Process Change & Improvement from North Lanarkshire Council said,

“By integrating our social care system with Kirona’s Job Manager and supplying smart phones to our 1300 Home Support Workers, the council has been able to significantly reduce costs. We would have previously sent over 100,000 letters advising our staff of these jobs, with Job Manager they now receive their jobs and relevant information directly to their smart phones, saving postage and admin costs.”

As well as the savings made, the council has been able to redirect resources, as the time taken that would have been used to make the calls and send the letters has been invested in service improvements.
